THE VICTORIOUS GIANT

Raphael Oye Taiwo

Please permit me to share with you a revelation God gave me one night during a period of seeking the Lord, waiting on God, in prayer and fasting.

The Spirit of God came upon me and took me to a sports field.

Yes, you got me right, a sports field.

There were many people there—as spectators and as sports people.  The games on the field were going in a terrific way. Everybody was in a great mood. There was a great amount of cheering, shouting, hugging, backslapping and laughing. It was a place for all and sundry!

Then the Spirit of God took me to another sports field. This place was a special place for a special people. There were few people. A look was all I needed to make me understand the reason why people shunned this field.      Wh at was going on there was enough to make the weak feel dizzy non-stop. Just watching the people on the field do their stuff required a greater courage than taking active part on the other field as a sports person. To be there at all as a minor, even as a spectator, required more courage than could be found among the athletes on the other field

This place was simply not for ordinary people. It was strictly for the giants!

The men on this field looked like you and I, but they were doing extraordinary things. They were few on the field. But the things everyone of the sport people was doing were of much more importance than what a big group of the people on the other field were doing. In fact, what those on the other field were doing was kid’s stuff compared to what these people were getting done.

I didn’t know exactly what they were doing. But I knew what they were doing was very important. It was of so great importance that the devil was hell bent on stopping it. From various directions destructive weapons - arrows, spears, missiles of every kind and barrels of solid iron covered by spikes – flew into the field at high velocity.

If one – just one – of these terrible objects had flown into the other field, the field would be empty in no time.

        But not this field!

When a horrible missile flew into the field, the sports people on the field would give a shout—not of anger, terror or complaints but—of PRAISES TO GOD.

They would rush, with an expression of elation, toward what the enemy was hurling at them, every one trying to catch in mid air and destroy the missile.

The devil stood no chance against these people. The more the enemy attacked them the happier and stronger they seemed to become. They were just really happy to be doing the terribly important thing they were doing for God and to be proving to the devil that he was no match for them at the same time.

I watched in amazement as men and women competed to catch in mid air barrel-size solid irons covered by spikes, with happy expressions on their faces that only great faith in and deep love for the Lord could inspire.

“These people,” explained the Holy Spirit, “are the small group of the Lord’s victorious giants. Those on the other field are the many spiritual dwarfs and ordinary Christians doing ordinary things and living average spiritual life.”

Spiritual giants concentrate their efforts on pleasing the Lord. Read the article, ‘Living a Life that Pleases the Lord’ at www.ucevam.com/pleasing.html. They don’t go by the worldly arguments spiritual-dwarf ministers use to justify their love of the world and love of money.

Pleasing the Lord is more important to the spiritual giants than food. ‘Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.’ John 4:34. They are not interested in high-sounding titles and human awards. They don’t care if men are pleased with them or not. It is the approval of God, and only of God, they desire.

Spiritual giants don’t play games with the Lord, like ordinary Christians do. They don’t revel in backbiting (2 Cor. 12:20), self righteousness (Rom 12:3), playing church politics, gossiping about ministers of God and their fellow brethren, like today’s run-of-the-mill Christians do.

Spiritual giants don’t give a hoot for worldly glory and riches. It is the thought for eternal glory and riches that occupy their minds every time.

‘If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.’ Colossians 3:1-4. 1 John 2:15-17. Luke 12:15.

Spiritual giants are not afraid of the devil. They are not intimidated by the rough stuffs the devil is throwing at them. They gladly suffer for the Lord. Nothing the devil does to them make them love the Lord less or make them give up. Romans 8:35-36; 2 Corinthians 11:24-27..

Spiritual giants are not terrified by the enemies’ attacks. When the devil strikes, they rise up in faith and with the sword of the Spirit in their hands, fight off the enemy. James 4:7; 1Peter 5:9.

Spiritual giants know their Lord. That is why they get great things done for Him. Daniel 11:32. You will never find them trying to reach an agreement with the devil in any area of their life, like the spiritual dwarfs who fill the churches today do. In spite of all the devil does to them, they accomplish the task God has given them. Romans 15:18-19.

Fellow, dare to be a spiritual giant. Don’t be a mediocre Christian. Don’t be an ordinary Christian. I challenge you to be one of the greatest giants of God upon the earth today.

You can, through the grace of God. ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.’ Philp 4:13.

Dare to be a victorious giant;

Don’t live your life as an ant,

When you can be an elephant

Whose progress no barrier can prevent.

                                                R.O.T.
