Second coming of Jesus Christ - Part One
|
THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST by Raphael Oye Taiwo Unity Christ Evangelical Ministry (UCEM)
Part One
JOHN 14:1-3 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. In this scripture, the Lord made us to understand that He would certainly come back again into the world. The Second Coming will take place in two phases. The first phase is the Rapture of the Saints. At this time, He will appear in the sky. The archangel’s trumpet shall sound. The bodies of the believers who have died will rise up and be changed to glorious, incorruptible bodies. They will be caught up to meet Christ in the cloud. The believers who are alive at the time will also be caught up into the cloud to meet Christ. Their bodies too will be changed to glorious, imperishable bodies. With Jesus, they will all go to heaven to be with God for ever. This is called the Rapture. The second phase of the Second Coming is when Christ comes back into the world with His saints to begin the one thousand year reign after the Great Tribulation. The second coming of Jesus Christ is the blessed hope of true believers. The Bible refers to it not less than 2,500 times. Yes, there is no doubt about it. It is not a fallacy. It is a fact supported by the prophecies of the honest prophets of both the Old and the New Testaments. Enoch, the seventh from Adam, says, “Behold, the Lord cometh” Jude 14 Job, the patient servant of God, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth” Job 19:25. David, the great king and psalmist, the man after God’s heart, says, “For He cometh, for he cometh….” Psalm 96:13 Paul, the great Missionary and Apostle, says, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…” 1Thessalonians 4:16. Peter, the Chief Apostle, says “And he (God) shall send Jesus Christ.” Acts 3:19-20. James, a leader of the Jerusalem Council, “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord... for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” James 5:7-8 John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, says, “Behold, he cometh with clouds.” Revelations 1:7. Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven in a cloud of glory. Two angels appeared to the amazed disciples and say, “Ye men of When is the Lord actually coming back? No one can pinpoint the day or the hour of His second coming. The Lord, however, does not leave us in total darkness regarding the answer to the question. He tells us the signs that should enable us to recognize the imminence of the day of His second coming. |
